Santo Domingo.– A high-level mission of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) met this Thursday with the president Luis Abinader to express its appreciation for the support that the Dominican Republic has provided to regional operations against drug trafficking.
The delegation was led by Daniel Saltersenior deputy administrator, and Miles Aleydeputy head of International Operations, who traveled to the country along with other officials linked to the prosecution of transnational crimes.
During the visit, the president thanked the distinction and reiterated the commitment of the Dominican Government to maintain and expand cooperation with the United States in the fight against drug trafficking, narcoterrorism and other forms of organized crime.

Also participating in the meeting were Michael A. Mirandaspecial agent of the Caribbean Division; Kaleb T. SandersonDEA attaché for the Dominican Republic and Haiti; and the president of the DNCDvice admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa.
Expanded coordination with the DNCD
After their meeting at the National Palace, the representatives of the DEA held a work meeting at the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD)where it was agreed to strengthen cooperation mechanisms, the exchange of operational information and logistical support.
The parties agreed on the need to strengthen the regional response against criminal organizations, including the so-called Poster of the Sunsas well as other networks operating in the Caribbean.
Salter highlighted that the Dominican Republic has established itself as a strategic partner for the United States in the fight against cartels. “Coordination has made it possible to hit criminal structures that seek to destabilize the region,” he stated.
Position of the Dominican Government
Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa valued the confidence expressed by the DEA and assured that the country will continue to play a decisive role in the prevention and prosecution of drug trafficking. He indicated that the alliance with the United States has been key to the progress made in recent years.
