Santo Domingo, DR. — Ingrid Mendozawidow of the former secretary general of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Reinaldo Pared Perezstated that the historic leader had written his resignation letter to that political organization since January 2021but ultimately decided not to present it on family recommendation due to his emotional state at the time.

“He had his resignation letter made for January 2021. Many of his close team and his brothers know it. But he was emotionally affected and my mother and I advised him not to present it. There was a team of bots constantly attacking him, saying that he wasn’t working on the match. Finally, he listened to us and did not resign,” Mendoza revealed.
Mendoza explained that the disagreement of Pared Pérez with the direction of the PLD deepened after internal primaries of the October 6, 2019when he decided to withdraw his presidential candidacy, denouncing the government’s bias in favor of Gonzalo Castillothen Minister of Public Works.
From those primaries, Castillo was elected against the former president Leonel Fernandezwho stated that there was fraud and later resigned from the party to found the People’s Force.

Reinaldo Pared Perez passed away in october 2021, after decades as one of the most influential figures in the world PLD. He was general secretary for more than 17 years, senator of the National District and president of the Senate.
