“We have seized a total of 64,516 kilos of drugs. This is the second largest figure of drug seizures that has been made in the country. The first figure was recorded the year after having expelled the Drug Control Administration (DEA) from Venezuela,” reported the Minister of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, during the program Con el Mazo Dando.
In this context, it is important to highlight that these 64,516 kilos of drugs correspond to the year 2025 and are part of the actions of the national government to combat drug trafficking in the country, under the legal protocols established for this purpose.
The seizure of these psychotropic substances has also led to the arrest of police officers, judges and prosecutors, as well as criminals belonging to organized gangs.
In addition to this, as Minister Cabello has expressed on previous occasions, 87% of the illegal drug trafficking destined for the United States is exported from Ecuador, which is why he reiterates that the US military presence in the Caribbean Sea has no basis, since they should be on the Ecuadorian coasts, if their intention is really to fight against drug trafficking.
