The Melo Technological Educational Pole offers important and in some cases innovative training possibilities to the youth of Cerro Largo and the region.

This year we worked at practically full capacity, but in any case they consider that there is a part of the population that still does not know this training center located in the eastern area of ​​the departmental capital.

This Wednesday the 12th, a sample of the different courses that were taught in 2025 was held.

“On the one hand we have projects that end and on the other, projects that begin. The idea is that they have continuity and every year they show the progress that the projects have apart from the new ones that arise, for example, we have a quite innovative one that uses Fax technology with a server to send and receive Faxes. That was developed here. We had some Faxes and computers in the Workshop Room that we were seeing what could be done and with the Computer Science Professors we recycled them and created a Fax server” he told Professor Sergio Moreira to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL.

“We are also working on the topic of robotics because it has a much more practical application, they see it in the moment, they develop it, problems arise and they see how they solve them” he added in relation to other innovative proposals.

“We have many proposals, ours is basically technological. The baccalaureates we have are in Computer Science and Administration. Then we have the Techniques that are in Marketing, which attracts a lot of attention, Administration, which has been around for years, Networks and Software, we have had interns at LUMIN who have remained working, we have interns at CAMCEL who have also remained working. Finally, we have the Construction Techniques that is always present” said the Coordinator of Educational Activities of the Technological Educational Pole.

NEW PROPOSALS FOR 2026

“Last year we had the orientation on Steel Framing and by 2026 the Construction focus will be on common masonry” advancement.

“Apart from that, next year we are going to have the Health Facilities Technician, Insurance Broker, which lasts one year, as well as Design and Visual Communication in agreement with the UTEC to use the Computer Laboratories because the equipment they have is a little more adapted for this type of careers” considered Professor Sergio Moreira.

“We increased the educational proposal in tertiary education and maintained that of high school” he pointed out.

NO NEED TO MOVE TO MONTEVIDEO

The teacher revealed that many people still do not know the Melo Technological Educational Pole, much less the careers taught there beyond the fact that the institution has participated in all the exhibitions there have been. “We were at UTEC and at La Expo Melo. The idea is to advertise our courses. Although we work with full places, there are still many people who do not identify us, who do not know us, who do not know the proposal” he assured.

“There are many people who travel to Montevideo or other areas to do certain races when nowadays they can do them here” he stressed.

“Those interested can come at any time, not only to get information but to tour the institution” summoned.

“The Polo was inaugurated 4 years ago. It was built in the Public Private Participation (PPP) modality so the private party that is in charge of maintenance has it impeccable, continually painting and fixing it. The building is very nice and is kept in perfect condition” said the Coordinator of Educational Activities.

AMPHITHEATRE AND LIBRARY TRANSFORMED INTO A TECHNOLOGICAL NODE

“In this year’s project we added a 120-inch screen with a monitor” confirmed.

“The TV we had was a little small for the size of the amphitheater so we decided to improve it a little more” he commented.

“Starting this year, both that space and the library became a Technological Node, which is a new concept that UTU has in certain places to work based on that concept” Professor Sergio Moreira finished saying.
