Morelia, Michoacán, November 12, 2025.- Michoacán has established itself as the second state in the Mexican Republic with the highest growth in its economic activity, registering a notable 3.8% during the second quarter of 2025, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
This dynamism also placed the entity in fourth place nationally in contribution to the country’s general economic growth in the period from April to June.
The impetus behind this advance, according to Claudio Méndez Fernández, head of the Ministry of Economic Development, comes from key sectors.
Primary activities such as agriculture, livestock and fishing were the main driving force, registering a 12.5 percent increase.
While the secondary activities in which the manufacturing industry, construction and electricity generation are found, in said period, showed an increase of 5.0 percent.
For its part, the tertiary sector grew 1.7 percent, which reflects stability in commerce, services and tourism.
The economic rebound has been accompanied by a constant recovery in formal employment. During the administration of Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Michoacán has generated 36,727 new jobs, which represents a growth close to 8 percent, which led to breaking the goal of 500,000 workers registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
