Petro, 'Fico' and Fajardo, the winners of the consultations

In line with what had been forecast before election day according to the polls, Gustavo Petro, Federico Gutierrez and Sergio Fajardo They managed to prevail yesterday in their respective inter-party consultations and will join the rest of the candidates who will fight for the Presidency of the Republic on May 29.

These were elections that were generally held calmly and with few altercations, despite the death of two soldiers in Meta and Caquetá, and in which an influx of voters was reported during the day.

After the day, and with 92% of the votes counted at the close of this edition, as predicted by the polls on the left flank, the winning candidate was Gustavo Petro, for the coalition of the Historical Pact, and achieved 4,120,162 votes, 80.43% of the total votes obtained by the query (5,122,104).

We are going to defend a common program that has to do with turning Colombia into a power of life, making the economy revolve around lifePetro said in his speech.

And he added: “we can reach fundamental agreements that allow us to get out of an abyss of hunger, inequality, poverty, death and build ourselves into a power of life. That is my invitation to all of society, the time for unity has come, if we keep things as they are, the Colombian nation will self-destruct.”

Within the Historical Pact France Marquez occupied the second position, with 14.1% of the votes (722,270), Camilo Romero achieved third place, with 210,624 votes (4.11%), followed by Arelis Uriana with 49,390 (0.96%) and Alfredo Saade, with 19,658 votes in his favor (0.38%).

Thus, Petro doubled the vote for the winner of the right-wing consultation, Federico Gutierrez, which reached 1,974,903 votes, 54.25% of the total votes in the Team for Colombia Coalition, which totaled 3,639,984 ballots.

In this consultation, Álex Char obtained 633,931 votes (17.41%), David Barguil 575,200 (15.8%), Aydeé Lizarazo 240,833 (6.61%) and Enrique Peñalosa 215,117 votes (5.9%).
After being recognized as the winner in his consultation, Gutiérrez highlighted in his speech “the importance of working from the regions”, and focusing on generating employment and combating poverty.

We are going to work with the people and for the people, for a Colombia for the youth, for the women, for the peasants, that from the countryside feeds its people and opens itself to the world; a Colombia where we take care of small and medium-sized companies and the generation of employment is the key to fighting poverty, which has to be one of the greatest priorities that our team leads, and that reaches the regions”, said the candidate for the Team for Colombia Coalition.

Gutiérrez also promised to reinforce the possibilities of entrepreneurship. “We propose change to move forward, but a change can never mean a leap into the void, as happened to other countries in the region, that cannot happen to Colombia, nor will it happen. We will fight so that failed models are not replicated and that many of our neighbors suffer from, we will fight to perpetuate poverty”, he stressed.

For his part, in the Centro Esperanza coalition, Sergio Fajardo was crowned the winner, with 668,289 votes, the 33.15% of the total (2,015,720 votes). The second position was occupied by Juan Manuel Galán, with 451,404 votes (22,395), followed by Carlos Amaya, with 434,445 votes (21.55%), Alejandro Gaviria, with 311,964 (15,475), and Jorge Enrique Robledo with 149,618 (7.42). %).

With a convoking tone, the former mayor of Medellín celebrated his victory as head of the list of the Centro Esperanza coalition and launched a message for the union of the country.
Colombia is waiting for us to unite and heal it from so many wounds, from so much accumulated anger.Fajardo declared at a rally at his campaign headquarters, where he was accompanied by the rest of the coalition candidates.

“This is a government that gives us a Colombia with rage, with insecurity, an inability to generate jobs and an economy that has represented very few,” said the winner of the center coalition.
