Holguin/The heavy rains associated with Melissa continue to cause disasters two weeks after the hurricane’s arrival. A landslide on a bridge in Holguín has caused the spectacular accident of an Electric Company truck that was transporting two transformers.

The accident occurred in Prolongación de Calle Libertad, in front of the sarcophagus factory and near the Holguín Railway, and despite leaving the vehicle completely overturned, the driver has only suffered minor injuries according to the first information.

Neighbors claim that the accident happened at night, although early this morning the rescue teams were still observing the truck – under the watchful eye of residents and onlookers – to plan the rescue. The transformers do not appear to have been damaged, although they were partially submerged in the mud.

In the images taken by 14ymedioyou can see the severe damage that the road suffered, with the asphalt completely torn apart and the trees cut down on both sides of the bridge.
