Full patience

Tolerance for reckless drivers is over

After a meeting he held with the Head of the Traffic Area and the Chief of Inspectors late Monday night, the Mayor of Cerro Largo made the decision to tighten controls on the streets of the city of Melo.

The disorder that has been in crescendo in recent times and that erupted last weekend where dozens of motorcyclists took over the main public spaces to carry out reckless maneuvers in vehicles lacking the minimum conditions for circulation, exhausted the patience of the main political authority of the department.

Once the instances of dialogue and persuasion have been exhausted, the controls will be adjusted, which will also be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior.

“When I arrived at the Municipality, I proposed to manage the dialogue as I did for 10 years in Rio Branco with good results. At this moment I feel a certain frustration because we had contemplations for those who made big disturbances on motorcycles, raising the wheel and bothering people, thinking that this was going to improve. The only thing I perceive is that it has gotten worse, so unfortunately we are going to go out and do what is done throughout the country, which is to generate greater control and be more rigorous with people who do not use helmets, but particularly with those who are lifting the front wheel and those who are threatening the lives of other people” expressed annoyance Christian Morel.

“We have met with the Transit Team. Although they wanted to work like this from the beginning, I had asked them to talk first” he admitted. “When the dialogue ends, you have to start acting” he added.

“Perhaps the concept is not that of a heavy hand, but rather applying the Law as it is applied throughout the country. If they go to Montevideo to do this, they are sent flying, they end up with many fines on them or detained in some section. Unfortunately in these 4 months I have dialogued and the only thing I achieved was that the other day a Traffic Inspector hurt me” he remembered.

“My dialogue has not been very fruitful, my soft hand has not been very fruitful, that kind of conversation has not been well received and it all ended with an injured Traffic Inspector” reiterated the Mayor of Cerro Largo.

Morel confirmed that he has already contacted the Cerro Largo Police Chief to carry out control operations in different parts of the capital city and at different times. “We are going to start stopping motorcycles, something that we were not doing on my order. We are going to stop them and we are going to control this type of things more” he stated.

“The Inspectors have the support of the Mayor. Beyond that, they do not have to make an attempt on their own lives as the Inspector did the other day defending her work, for which I am totally grateful” express.

“Yes, we need more support from the Police, the same support we had in Río Branco at the time.” he pointed out.

“Yes, at the meeting the Traffic Team presented me with 11 photos of 11 motorcycles that have already been detected and that we are already after the presentation of a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office, by my order if it is not with the Police I do not want them to act” stressed the Mayor of Cerro Largo.

WILL CONTINUE WITH SUPPORT FOR REGULATED PICES

“Yes, they told me that the issue was partly there.” –carrying out diving competitions- We believe that those who were quite misplaced were 4 or 5 while those who went to a well-organized and safe show were a crowd.” Christian Morel specified.

“For the sake of a few, I am not going to cut off support for those types of activities in which a crowd participates. Yes, we are going to go out and look for the 4 or 5 misplaced ones” he emphasized.
