Boston, Massachusetts. – The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Boston, under the direction of engineer Antonio Almonte, successfully held the first meeting with Dominican students studying at various universities in the New England region, with the purpose of strengthening ties between Dominican youth abroad and their consular representation.
The event, held in an atmosphere of fraternity, pride and a sense of patriotism, brought together dozens of young people studying at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Bentley University, Berklee College of Music, Boston University, Northeastern University, MIT, Hult International Business School, Wentworth University, UMass Boston and Community College of Rhode Island, among others.
This meeting gave participants the opportunity to connect, exchange contacts, create professional networks and share their academic and improvement experiences in the United States.
During the activity, attendees enjoyed delicious Dominican food, while students from Berklee College of Music enlivened the day with musical performances that reflected talent, joy, and Dominican cultural identity.
Additionally, several students shared inspiring stories about their admission process to these universities and how their training has allowed them to grow both personally and professionally.
One of the most notable moments of the meeting was the virtual intervention of the Her Excellency Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Raquel Peña, who participated through a Zoom video call.
The Vice President addressed a message full of motivation, pride and hope, congratulating the young people for representing the country with dignity from the classrooms of the best universities in the world.
During his speech, the students were able to ask him questions, generating a memorable exchange.
“Each one of you is a source of pride for our nation. The Dominican Republic trusts in your preparation, discipline and commitment,” said the Vice President.
“I urge you to be the best in everything you do, to study with passion and never forget your roots. The country awaits you with open arms to continue building together a stronger, fairer and more modern nation.”
Her words were received with applause and emotion by those present, who highlighted the closeness of the senior official and the gesture of interacting directly with the Dominican student community in Boston.
Consul General Antonio Almonte offered an emotional speech, urging young people to continue training with excellence and social commitment.
“Each Dominican student abroad represents a living extension of the homeland, an ambassador of our values, our identity and our determination as a people,” he stated.
For her part, the commercial vice consul, Solangy Mejía, spoke words of motivation, highlighting the importance of unity, leadership and national pride.
“The knowledge you acquire here is a powerful tool not only for your personal development, but also for the progress of the Dominican Republic. Each of you represents the future of a nation that trusts in your talent,” he stressed.
The meeting included the participation of prominent Dominican personalities in Boston, who shared with young people and supported the Consulate’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the academic, cultural and professional of the Dominican community in the city.
The vice consuls of the Consulate General in Boston were present: Kary Ramírez, Elizabeth Espinal, Solangy Mejía, Edward Gómez, Bethania Rodríguez, Raúl Reynoso, Douglas Pichardo and Michael De Jong, who reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting spaces of integration, leadership and opportunities for Dominican youth in New England.
This initiative, promoted by the management of Consul General Antonio Almonte, is part of the institutional plan to strengthen the connection of young Dominicans with their country of origin, promoting leadership, cultural identity and the international projection of the student community.
