In an interview with RPP, Cerrón explained why he presented his presidential plan as the “formula for revenge.” “Calling for the people’s revenge is, in this case, not physical violence but revenge for our attitudes, thoughts and voting intention because we consider that the people have been robbed of victory since the coup d’état,” he said.

Regarding his government proposals, he explained that “revenge also means putting the Government’s program into action.” These include: review of law contracts, fight against oligopolistic and monopolistic positions, the call for a Constituent Assembly, the creation of a new political Constitution and the recovery of the administration of strategic resources.
“Those are the proposed flags of the party (Perú Libre) that have not been proposed by any other party. They are vital and inalienable points. In this sense, we believe that that is what the people want and that is what we aim for,” he mentioned.
He did not want to share his position regarding the presidential plan, as he said that it is a party decision and that he abides by it. “I have not chosen them. They have been chosen by the political commission, the party bench and the set of 25 general secretaries at the national level based on their own merits. It matters little whether I agree or not. I have to adapt to what the majority says. The party applies democratic centralism in principle. What the majority says is done, not the opposite,” he added.
