3 subjects arrested in Mérida for arms trafficking

The Bolivarian National Police (PNB) apprehended three members of a criminal gang, in the La Mucuy sector, Santos Marquina municipality (Tabay), from whom explosive devices and ammunition of different calibers were seized, reported the commander of the Operational Zone of Integral Defense (Zodi) G/D Juan Ernesto Sulbarán Quintero, this Friday.

Sulbarán Quintero, indicated that the investigations determined the existence of others involved.

“The PNB continues with its investigation and procedure. Other arrests and seizures of firearms are expected, to finish dismantling this gang that intended to destabilize the Bolivarian state of Mérida,” added Sulbarán.

He pointed out that the case is at the order of the Public Ministry, an agency that will continue with the investigations.

For his part, Governor Jehyson Guzmán thanked the police forces for the intelligence work carried out. “Fear, violence and terror will not return to the Mérida state,” Guzmán said.
