The Brazil Pavilion was inaugurated this Monday afternoon (10), in the blue zone of Belém City Park, where the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) is taking place..
The space is one of the places for social participation and will host 286 activities related to climate change.
“This space here will be our ParlaCOP, it is our Parliament. Here we will have debates on the most varied issues and themes, from the most diverse sectors of society”, declared the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva.
In programming, approaches to climate change, the 30 strategic objectives of the Action Agenda, the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the Climate Plan are planned.
“Many things that will be debated will strengthen the negotiation agenda with regard to financing, adaptation, mitigation and combating climate change”, reinforced the minister.
With four auditoriums, two in the Blue zones and two in the Green, the Pavilhão Brasil will have daily programming from 10am to 7pm. Meetings will last a maximum of 60 minutes.
This year, the Brazil Pavilion’s theme is The Moment is for Climate Action.
“When we talk about climate change, we talk about life”, highlighted the youth champion at COP30, Marcele Oliveira, remembering that the space will allow the story of the diversity of the Brazilian population to be told.
In the Blue Zone auditoriums, called Sumaúma and Cumaru, the debates will focus on discussions aimed at implementing Brazil’s NDC within the scope of the Paris Agreement, in a context of international cooperation.
In the Green Zone, the Jadaíra and Uruçu spaces will bring together topics relevant to Brazilian society in the domestic context, such as the implementation of the Climate Plan, a guide for actions to combat the climate crisis in Brazil until 2035.
“Being a COP in Brazil, it is wonderful to bring everyone to immerse themselves in this COP universe”, invited the president of COP30, ambassador André Correa do Lago.
