Santo Domingo.– A electrical failure recorded on Monday night caused the partial suspension and subsequent total closure of the Santo Domingo Metro serviceafter it was unofficially reported a explosion at the Gregorio Gilbert stationlocated in Villa Mellamunicipality Santo Domingo North.
According to the Office for the Reorganization of Transport (OPRET)the electrical incident occurred at 7:25 p.m. in the section between the stations Mama Tingó and Peña Gómezaffecting the power supply that powers the trains in that section of the Line 1.
Initially, the institution reported that the service remained interrupted between Mama Tingó, Gregorio Luperón and Peña Gómezwhile the rest of Line 1 and the entire Line 2 They operated normally.
However, hours later, all Metro stations were closed preventively after a reported explosion at the Gregorio Gilbert station.
