The Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb), G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported that a mining camp was detected and destroyed in the state of Amazonas, which was located in the area surrounding the Carida indigenous community, in the Mina Vieja sector.
This was reported by the senior officer on the Instagram social network, where he explained that the actions were carried out within the framework of Operation Fog 2025, using a Mixed Combat Rapid Reaction Unit (URRA) in area and zone patrol missions that were carried out in the Atabapo municipality.
He detailed that mining materials and equipment hidden in the vegetation were destroyed, which consisted of “two hundred (200) liters of diesel fuel, three (03) 13 HP water suction engines, one (01) 20 HP mining engine, two (02) mining snails, fifty (50) meters of 4″ high pressure hose, six (06) meters of 4″ PVC pipe and twelve (12) meters of 2” hose.
Hernández Lárez highlighted that in the state of Amazonas “any type of non-traditional open pit mining exploitation is prohibited; anyone who violates the law becomes a criminal.”
«All the material and equipment collected were incinerated at the scene, for serving as logistical support for the depredation of the environment in illegal mining activities, prohibited by the Venezuelan State, in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Criminal Law, violating the legal system and national security and defense. Procedure notified to the Public Ministry,” he reported.
Finally, he said that Venezuela is a land of peace, law and justice and that it fights daily against environmental depredation and illegal mining exploitation.
