The Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice will have an investment of more than 57 billion pesos, reported President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. He explained that part of these “historic” resources for the state will be mixed.
The president yesterday presented the comprehensive strategy to pacify the entity after the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, nine days ago. He indicated that the project is based on 12 central axes and will consist of more than 100 actions.
“To all Michoacans we say: you are not alone! Your President and the entire government of Mexico support you,” he signed from the central patio of the National Palace.
He pointed out that in 2026, the investment destined for Welfare programs for the state will be 37,450 million pesos, which will benefit 1.5 million inhabitants.
Accompanied by the Michoacan governor, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, and by practically all the members of his legal and expanded cabinet, the head of the Executive guaranteed that she will personally follow up on this tactic every 15 days and every month the progress will be presented in the morning. He did not inform when he will visit the entity.
“It is a comprehensive strategy that is based on a deep conviction: security is sustained with actions, justice and guaranteeing the rights of the people of Michoacán and Mexico to education, health, housing and decent employment; that is, development with justice and well-being.”
He announced that meetings between his team and the sectors of Michoacán will continue to analyze progress and outline the actions of the plan.
“With the entire cabinet, we will continue meeting with Michoacan society and its authorities to provide timely follow-up and continue strengthening this project. We came to government with broad popular support, supported by a conviction: security and peace are the fruit of justice. We will never betray the trust that the people of Mexico have given us. Our effort, knowledge and daily dedication are for the people and for the people, that is our mandate.”
During the event, where she was the last of more than 20 speakers, Sheinbaum Pardo again expressed her indignation and regret for the murder of Manzo, perpetrated last night in the middle of a public square, during the celebrations for the Day of the Dead.
“In recent days we have seen pain and indignation over the cowardly murder of the municipal president of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. We share the feeling. His cowardly crime hurts not only his family and his community, but all of Michoacán and the country.”
He recalled that after the murder, on the 4th he ordered his government team to hold meetings with representatives of all social, economic and indigenous sectors in the state, in order to outline and define the comprehensive plan to pacify the entity.
“They met during these days remotely, in person, and we will continue to do so; it is not a four-day exercise, but a permanent one, which has allowed us to present today the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice.”
In order to apply these actions, he noted, the federal government will further promote republican austerity, “in order to allocate all resources to our country, the people of Mexico. No one is left unprotected, but on the contrary, a special effort is made for the people of Michoacan.”
