He Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) issued a statement after various newspaper reports reported an alleged computer attack on its systems.
The institution reported that it has initiated actions to investigate, clarify and make transparent the facts, in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office and the Comptroller General of the Republic, in order to determine the corresponding responsibilities.
According to the sector, the incident would be linked to the Document Processing System (STD), a platform for internal administrative use.
“The computer systems on patents, aeronautical management, land transportation, among others, operate independently and have not been affected,” they stated.
The ministry rejected that the access block requested as of October 14 had caused the problems mentioned in the journalistic reports, which, according to its details, would have occurred between September 23 and October 4, 2025.
As part of its modernization and digital security policy, the MTC indicated that it has been executing a plan to strengthen cybersecurity, in coordination with the Secretariat of Government and Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In addition, it announced the completion of a specialized external audit of its critical systems to detect and prevent possible vulnerabilities.
“The MTC carries out a continuous review and strengthening of access controls, network security and infrastructure, patch management and incident response protocols,” they concluded.
