Santo Domingo.- He Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that the trough that affected the national territory moves away from the country, giving way to a mostly sunny environment with little rainfall in much of the Dominican Republic.
However, during the afternoon and early evening could register local showers and isolated thunderstorms in provinces of the northwest, southwest and the border area, such as Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Independencia, Barahona, San Juan and Pedernales.
Indomet reports only Barahona remains on alert
Given the decrease in rains during the next 24 to 48 hours, the Indomet National Forecast Center modified the meteorological alert level due to possible urban flash floods.
According to the report, only the Barahona province remains on alert, while the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal and Peravia were discontinued.
Tuesday with little rain and sunny atmosphere
For this Tuesdaythe meteorological panorama will maintain stable conditions in almost the entire country.
However, the Indomet foresee some scattered showers from the early hours of the morning in La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Peravia, Barahona and Pedernales, as a result of the incidence of the wind.
During the afternoon, a mostly sunny environment is expected, with scattered clouds and low humidity, although isolated showers and distant thunderstorms are not ruled out in sectors of the interior, the northeast and the Central Mountain Rangedue to the slight influence of a frontal system in the north of the country.
Maritime conditions
Regarding the state of the sea, Indomet recommends that operators of small and medium-sized vessels that navigate the caribbean coast do it with caution near the coastal perimeter, without venturing out to sea, due to abnormal winds and waves, while in the Atlantic coast, Maritime conditions remain normal.
