The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Félix Plasencia, stated this Saturday that the United States wants to return to the Venezuelan oil market.
This was stated in an interview granted to the Spanish newspaper El País, reviewed by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
In his statements, within the framework of the Second Edition of the Diplomatic Forum that takes place in Atalaya, Republic of Turkey, he stressed that international companies, including American companies, will be welcome “if they accept that the only and legitimate Government of Venezuela It is the one led by President Nicolás Maduro.”
He explained that the interruption of the energy agenda between the United States and Venezuela was due to the imposition of unilateral coercive measures by Washington.
“We have not removed them from the Venezuelan oil market (…) They left to impose unilateral coercive measures. Now they want to go back.”
Plasencia, who stressed that the lifting of unilateral coercive measures is a “permanent demand”, given that there is “no reason to apply sanctions neither to Venezuela nor to the more than 30 countries that are imposed on them in the world”, assured that these constitute “an abuse of the Charter of the United Nations”.
Regarding the future of relations between Venezuela and the European Union (EU), the Venezuelan foreign minister stressed that “talks should always be good.”
“We have no reason why the talks should not be good,” he reiterated.
Previously, Plasencia held a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, in which he ratified Venezuela’s willingness to engage in a peaceful dialogue under the principles of respect and self-determination of peoples.
