Just a few days ago, a congresswoman outraged the country by receiving a pedicure in her parliamentary office. Today, the congresswoman Ariana Orué, from Podemos Peru, uses state resources to stay in shape.
A report from the Fourth Powerr reveals that the Chalaca parliamentarian used her parliamentary coordinator as a personal driver to travel to her exercise routines, during working hours and in a vehicle with an official pass. While she was lifting weights, her worker was waiting for her outside, stopped in the street, without fulfilling a single function of the position for which he is paid with public money.
The morning of the search, the congresswoman was not on her way to the Plenary Session. She got into the van, her advisor drove to the gym and she went in to train as if it were part of her institutional agenda.
Outside, Alex Paredes, parliamentary coordinator, was waiting in the official car. It did not serve citizens, it did not articulate demands, it did not manage trades. He was just waiting for his boss to finish her routine. At 10:22 am, already late, he just marked attendance in Congress.
In statements to Cuarto Poder, Orué said that he went to the gym on his own.
The 31-year-old legislator, known as ‘La Chalaquita’, also stated that the coordinator (who earns S/.3,600) “can do whatever he wants outside of working hours.”
The second advisor: a hiring that touches the family circle
The case does not end in the gym. Another member of his office, Renzo Nicolás Basurco, advisor II with a salary of S/ 10,000 and without previous experience in the State, appears romantically linked to his sister, Shirley Orué, with whom he was involved in incidents on public roads.
According to Cuarto Poder, the advisor was intercepted in a vehicle belonging to the congresswoman’s father. Basurco admitted alcohol consumption while Shirley violently grabbed documents from the police officer.
Today, he and the congresswoman’s sister are partners in an events and advertising company created in 2025.
During the interview, Ariana Orué did everything possible to avoid the topic. Every time the relationship between her sister and her advisor was mentioned, her discomfort grew. When asked directly if the two were a couple, he said a phrase that left more shadows than certainties: “You can’t find out.”.
He also did not want to explain why this relationship appears recorded in multiple police reports. His only response was an evasive “I don’t know”despite the fact that the documents detail interventions, discussions and even episodes of aggression recorded in police stations.
