Santo Domingo.- The Superior Council of the Public Ministry (CSMP) ordered this Sunday the promotion, through a file competition, of 164 members of the persecuting body to the positions of prosecutor and court of appeal attorney.
The governing body of the Public Ministry, chaired by the attorney general Yeni Berenice Reynososelected 90 prosecutors who, following the results of the competition, were promoted to the position of attorney general of the court of appeal, of which 68 will take office immediately.
The remaining 22 will be promoted as of March 9, 2026, the date on which the National Public Prosecutor’s Day is celebrated, in honor of the birth of the patrician and first prosecutor, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez.

Likewise, 74 auditors were promoted to tax attorneys, 46 of them effective immediately and the other 28 as of March 9, 2026.
The Superior Council, also made up of the deputy attorney Isis Germania de la Cruz Duartethe court attorney José del Carmen Sepúlvedathe prosecutor Denny Frey Silvestre Zorrilla and the inspector Merlin Mateo Sánchezevaluated a total of 525 applicants.
The General Career Directorate of the Public Ministry, headed by Isaura Suarez Salcedocommunicated the decision and highlighted that these promotions constitute recognition of the work and dedication of the members of the prosecution body.
Recognition of merit and citizen service
To strengthen the effectiveness of the service to the population, the Council decided to expand the number of positions originally announced. The initial call contemplated 35 positions for fiscal attorney and 40 for court attorney general; However, based on the results, merits and performance of the applicants, the places were increased to 74 and 90, respectively.
As explained by Suárez Salcedo, the measure seeks to recognize with justice and equity the powers of inspectors who for years have assumed prosecutorial functions without having received the corresponding promotion.
The official also highlighted that it is the first time that the promotions of prosecutors are carried out through a file competition, thus strengthening transparency and professionalization within the Public Ministry.
