The city of Medellín shook again in 2025 with a new case of child abandonment and abuseafter two children aged 11 and 12 were found chained and completely alone inside a home in the northeast of the capital of Antioquia.
The incident was discovered thanks to the call of several neighbors who, upon hearing the cries for help, alerted the authorities. Minutes later, police units arrived at the scene and found a scene that has generated outrage throughout the city.
Rescue through a small opening
In videos recorded during the procedure, it is observed how the minors were rescued through a small space in the wall and ceiling. The Police explained that this was the only safe way to gain access without putting the children’s safety at risk.
After the operation, both were placed under the protection of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF)an entity that has already started the process of reestablishing rights.

A case that reveals a painful reality
