The company Barrick Pueblo Viejo performed the act of delivery of certificates corresponding to the fifth edition of his Credit–Scholarship programan initiative developed in alliance with Fundapec and aimed at students meritorious students from the communities neighboring their operation who aspire to pursue careers linked to the mining industry.
The event was led by Gisselle Valerapresident of the company, who highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for access to education higher education program for talented young people from the communities, pointing out that this program contributes tangibly to professional development.
The initiative Credit–Scholarship seeks to close the gap between education middle and the upper one through a financing model which can be converted into a full or partial scholarship, depending on the academic performance and commitment of each student.

Since its beginning in 2019, the program has benefited 125 young people from the Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel and San Pedro de Macorís provinces. Of this total, 96 are women and 29 men, reaffirming Barrick Pueblo Viejo’s commitment to inclusion and female participation in traditionally masculinized technical and professional careers.
Each year, the company allocates 500,000 thousand dollars (approximately 30 million pesos) to cover tuition, accommodation, maintenance and transportation. To date, the accumulated investment It amounts to three million dollars, reflecting a sustained commitment to the development of local talent.
Professional growth
The program also offers professional growth opportunities, such as internshipshe New Graduate Program and reinforcement of technical skills through Infotep. Currently, 18 students have completed their studies, seven are close to finishing and 10 of the graduates are employees of the mining company.
