Henrique Capriles asserted that the “path of integration” sought by the Celac countries “will be difficult to achieve if a country in the region, in this case Venezuela, experiences a constant climate of instability.”
Former presidential candidate Henrique Capriles urged the attendees of the IV Celac-EU summit not to “leave aside” the Venezuelan political crisis which, he stated, has repercussions throughout the region given the “threat of a possible war conflict” with the United States after the military deployment in the Caribbean.
«Actions are needed that transcend official statements and photos. “We cannot leave aside the political crisis in Venezuela, which today affects the entire region, and which will worsen the internal situation and will imminently have repercussions throughout the region,” Capriles said in a statementspread on their social networks.
The IV Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the European Union (EU) takes place between Sunday, November 9 and Monday, November 10 in the city of Santa Marta (Colombia), where topics of cooperation, global governance, international security and climate change will be discussed.
The elected representative asserted that the “path of integration” sought by the Celac countries “will be difficult to achieve if a country in the region, in this case Venezuela, experiences a constant climate of instability.”

To this “climate of instability”, which Capriles pointed out is due to an economic and social crisis due to the actions of “a supposed revolution”, is added a possible armed conflict that will have “migratory repercussions that will multiply throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. However, he avoided directly mentioning the US as a threat to the stability of the region.
The opposition politician said that “cooperation and understanding are the only possible way to overcome current tensions.” Likewise, he stated that Venezuela needs “democracy, stability, strong institutions and respect for the popular will” to contribute to regional development.
«The majority of the Venezuelan people reject those who currently occupy power, however we do not believe in violent solutions or foreign interventions, which only aggravate the crisis and punish the people even more. “Our country needs peaceful and democratic solutions that arise from real dialogue and respect for the Constitution and international treaties,” Capriles reaffirmed in his statement.
Likewise, he said that the region is going through a period where “democracy, peace and cooperation must be a priority,” and supported any initiative that arises from the summit that “seeks to promote conflict resolution.”
«Today more than ever, we must insist that diplomacy, common sense and conversations succeed. Tangible success for our people,” he noted.
