President Boric says that priest Berríos "is not part of the Government" and that a religious was summoned for an advisory council on the matter of camps

“Felipe Berríos is not part of the government and what the Minister (of Housing, Carlos) Montes pointed out is that he had summoned him for an advisory council on the matter of camps.”

This was the declaration of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, after, through a statement signed by the provincial of the Society of Jesus, it was reported that his government would have asked the priest to join one of the key programs of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism led by former senator Carlos Montes (PS).

In interview with CNNChilePresident Boric said that “the entire Government is putting together teams and this is something that the Government did not announce, therefore, there was no decision made in this regard.”

The Minister of Housing and Urbanism, Carlos Montes also referred to the role of the priest in the government camp program. “We considered that the camping issue is fundamental for the country and, therefore, we have to broadly add different sectors to work. Within this, Felipe was summoned for an instance to discuss and see different alternatives”, clarifying that “he has never had a position, he is summoned to work in a team”, said Montes.
