The Ministry of Labor announced this Wednesday the dates corresponding to the holidays during the year 2026, in compliance with Law 139-97, which establishes the transfer of holidays.
Law No. 139-97, dated June 19, 1997, on transfer for Mondays of the holidays that coincide with Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, was published in the Official Gazette No. 9957, dated June 25, 1997, came into force on the 27th of the same month and year, so, in accordance with the provisions of our legislation, it must be applied in all establishments in the country.
How many holidays is the year 2026?
In such virtue, holidays for the year 2026 will be applied as follows:
- On Thursday the 1st. January, the date of New Year’s celebration, is not changed.
- On Tuesday, January 6, the day of the Holy Kings, we work and the holiday changes to Monday the 5th.
- Wednesday, January 21, the day of Our Lady of Altagracia, is not changed.
- Monday, January 26, the date on which the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte is commemorated, is not changed.
- Meanwhile, Friday, February 27, National Independence Day, is immovable.
- It is also immovable, Friday, April 3, Good Friday, a religious holiday that commemorates the death of Jesus Christ.
- Likewise, on Friday the 1st. May, Labor Day, we work and the holiday is changed to Monday, May 4.
- Thursday, June 4, the day the religious holiday Corpus Christi is celebrated, is not changed.
- Likewise, Sunday, August 16, Restoration Day of the Dominican Republic, is not changed.
- Thursday, September 24, the day of Our Lady of Mercedes, is not changed.
- Meanwhile, on Friday, November 6, Constitution Day, work is carried out and the holiday is changed to Monday, November 9.
- Friday, December 25, Christmas Day or the birth of Jesus, does not change.
