Deputy Bruno Gallo repudiated Trinidad and Tobago’s position regarding military maneuvers

Diputado Bruno Gallo califica de "absurdo" acciones militares de EE. UU. en el Caribe

The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) for the Progressive Advanced party, Bruno Gallo, highlighted the statement of the High Commissioner of the United Nations (UN) for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on the actions of the United States in the Caribbean, because “they are extrajudicial executions, that there has been no adherence to legal procedures” and repudiated the position of Trinidad and Tobago regarding the military maneuvers.

During an interview on the A Pulso program, the legislator harshly criticized the actions of the United States in the Caribbean, pointing out President Donald Trump as the person responsible for ordering “extrajudicial executions.”

The deputy emphasized the seriousness of the recent events in the Caribbean, where ships have been attacked, “there have been a lot of statements from Americans saying very clearly that there has been no adherence to legal procedures.”

The parliamentarian referred to the practice of destroying boats under the assumption that they transport prohibited substances, a fact that he described as “outburst” and “incredible”; These actions violate due process and international legality.

«You don’t subject someone who commits a crime to the death penalty without a trial, without any judicial procedure, without having arrested him, you just shoot him and that’s it. “That is an absolutely absurd thing,” said the deputy.

Gallo highlighted that the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has demonstrated that boats can be intercepted to arrest the crew members and seize the product, instead of destroying them, which puts the lives of fishermen or migrants at risk.

The Progressive Advanced legislator directly accused President Trump of ordering these actions. «Trump is leaving enough evidence that he is the one who is ordering these extrajudicial executions. In such a way that history is going to take its toll on him,” said Gallo, although he expressed his surprise at the lack of a “more concerted” statement from the affected Caribbean countries.

He criticized Trinidad and Tobago for military maneuvers

Regarding the position of the government of Trinidad and Tobago in the context of the US military maneuvers against Venezuela, Gallo was forceful in assuring that “not only is it a serious mistake, it is a betrayal of the peaceful vocation of the Caribbean.”

The deputy considered it “shameful” that the Caribbean nation lends its waters and ports to rehearse “a parody of war against Venezuela.”

Gallo urged Trinidadian citizens to raise their voices in the face of such “nonsense” and advocated for “concertation” and a “single voice” of the Caribbean in the face of these attacks.

Likewise, he predicted that Trinidad and Tobago will face a deficit in its gas production, at which time it will have to choose whether to maintain its faith in Donald Trump’s promises or align itself with a more Caribbean and Latin American policy.

The deputy praised the interest of the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in serving as a mediator in a dialogue between the United States and Venezuela; and in this sense it could be “very useful in this situation” due to its ability to facilitate dialogue between sectors with different political positions without falling into fanaticism.
