As part of the New Jersey governor’s tour to Mexico, in which he addressed immigration, trade and the 2026 World Cup issues, Phil Murphy went with his team to the old City Hall Palace to meet with the head of government.

Through her social networks, the capital’s president stated that the meeting was important for Mexico City, since both cities will host soccer matches and, therefore, will receive millions of fans who will attend the events.

He said that the capital will host the opening of the World Cup and five games will be played, while New Jersey will host the closing ceremony.

“This approach strengthens the collaboration between both cities to make the 2026 World Cup an unforgettable celebration!” reads a message.

Among those attending the meeting were the Secretary of Government, César Cravioto; of Finance, Juan Pablo de Botton, and Manola Zabalza, Secretary of Economic Development.

Some of the topics addressed between the Clara Brugada and Phil Murphy teams were security, mobility and the tourist offer that both cities will provide for visitors and fans.

After the meeting, Murphy’s team and members of Brugada’s cabinet moved to the main steps of the City Hall Palace to take the official photograph.
