CTS: 38% allocate benefits to paying debts

CTS: 38% allocate benefits to paying debts

On November 15, the deadline for depositing the Compensation for Time of Service expires (CTS). Currently, and until December 31, 2026, people can access 100% of this benefit.

According to Bumeran, 38% of people allocate this money to pay debts or credits, while 29% plan to save it and 10% will invest it in studies for their professional growth. The rest plan to use the money for different purposes.

The commercial director of the portal, Diego Tala, stated that the CTS is a key support for the talents of companies. On the other hand, he indicated that, according to the survey, 19% of people receive less than S/500 for this benefit.

Thus, 64% of talents in Peru consider that the amount received from CTS is not adequate to cover their needs, while 36% are satisfied with what they receive, according to data from Bumeran.

CTS DETAILS

Eric Castro, partner in the Labor Area of the Miranda & Amado firm, recalled that the CTS payment benefits workers who are on the payroll and work at least four hours a day or 20 hours a week.

To calculate the corresponding amount, he pointed out that different components of the worker’s fixed and variable remuneration must be considered. In the case of fixed salaries, the basic salary and family allowance (when applicable) are included.

Regarding variable remuneration, these include overtime, bonuses that must have been received at least three times during the semester to be counted, commissions and one sixth of the last bonus received in July, excluding the extraordinary bonus.

“If, for example, the base salary of a worker with children is S/2,000, S/113 family allowance will be added, plus the average of variables (if any, in this case it is not) and the corresponding bonus (S/352.16). The total (S/2,456.16.) will be divided by 12 and multiplied by the six months of work, resulting, in this case, S/ 1,232.58”, he detailed.

Failure to comply is a serious infraction. Sanctions vary depending on the size of the company and the number of workers affected. Currently, fines can range from S/2,407.50 to S/24,075 for small companies, and between S/8,399.50 and S/139,742 for medium and large companies.

In addition, failure to deliver the deposit settlement sheet is also punishable, with fines that are also calculated based on the type of company and number of workers affected.
