These collisions between engines have left a regrettable toll of people dead and injuredevidencing the increase in road accidents associated with the use of this means of transportation.
The most recent event occurred on the night of Monday, November 3, in the municipal district of La Otra Banda, province Altagraciawhere a young man lost his life and another was injured after a collision between two motorcycles.
The accident occurred around 9:32 at nightthe victims being transferred by the National Emergency System 9-1-1 to the Nuestra Señora de General and Specialty Hospital. Altagracia.
The deceased was identified as Felipe José Wade Salas, while the injured is Jhon Manuel Jiménez, 21 years old, who presents multiple lacerations and mild head trauma, remaining under medical observation.

On Friday, June 27, another accident between motorcycles claimed the life of a 50-year-old man in the Anamuyita sector, in the municipality of Higuey.
The victim was identified as Eduardo Antonio Lorenzo de los Santos, who was driving a blue Suzuki AX100 motorcycle, without protective helmet.
According to the official report, the incident occurred around 6:30 in the afternoon, when the engine that Lorenzo was driving collided with another with similar characteristics, whose driver fled the scene.
The removal of the body was carried out by the medical examiner Ruth Almánzar, while both vehicles were retained by authorities for investigative purposes.
A week before, on June 20, a woman lost her life in another fact in the Verón–Punta Cana municipal district.
The deceased, Maribel Durán Francisco, 32 years old and resident of Pueblo Bávaro, suffered serious injuries after hitting her motorcycle. with a stepla for the part rear, on the street known as the Leonel Taveras straight.
A video broadcast on social networks shows the moment of the accident, in which Durán fell to the pavement and received the blows that caused his death while receiving medical attention.

Cruz Méndez revealed that in 2024, 3,144 people died in Higüey due to traffic accidents, which is equivalent to an average of eight deaths per day, most of them related to motorcyclists who did not use a protective helmet.
