Pedro Castillo thanks the president of Bolivia "for the support given the political situation in my country"

The president of the Republic, thanked the Bolivian president, “for the support in the face of the political situation” that Peru is currently going through, had previously thanked a similar statement by Argentine President Alberto Fernández.

Thank you very much brother Luis Arce for the support of the Bolivian Government and people in the face of the political situation in my country. In his message, President Castillo responds to a tweet from Arce in which he says the following: “We send a hug to the President of Peru Pedro Castillo, elected by popular vote in a process that witnessed Latin America. We send you a lot of strength to continue working for his people. Legitimately elected governments strengthen democracy in the region”.

The president’s message comes after last Saturday, the highest Argentine authority, Alberto Fernández, affirmed, through a statement, that Peru is going through an institutional crisis, in reference to the second request for dismissal that Pedro Castillo faces in less than 8 months of government.

The Pro Tempore Presidency of CELAC expresses its concern about the institutional situation that the sister Republic of Peru is going through and emphasizes the need to respect the democratic order and the popular will expressed in favor of President Pedro Castillo seven months ago”, it is read in the note that bears the signature of Fernández.

vacancy motion

This Monday, March 14, the Plenary of Congress will discuss the admission to debate of the vacancy motion against Pedro Castillo Terrones, for the cause of permanent moral incapacity. For his admission, 52 votes are required, as established in the Regulations of Parliament.

If the presidential vacancy motion is upheld, it will be up to the head of government to personally exercise his right to defense or be assisted by a lawyer, for up to sixty minutes.
