Relief agencies have been trying to locate the girl who was carried away by the current of the river while she was playing with another minor for several days.
News Colombia.
Since last Monday, November 3, relief agencies have not stopped their efforts in the municipality of Gutiérrez, Cundinamarca, where an 11-year-old girl was swept away by a sudden current while she was playing near the river with another child under 8 years old. Thanks to the quick reaction of the community, the youngest girl managed to be rescued alive, but there is still no trace of the other minor.
For several days, the search efforts continue without rest, while the girl’s family lives moments of anguish and despair waiting for news.
However, the tragedy became even more complicated. In the middle of the rescue operations, a firefighter disappeared after being swept away by the strong current of the Blanco River, in the Puente Río Chiquito sector, Cerinza village, where search efforts are concentrated.
Fire Commander of Mesitas del Colegio was reported missing
The missing person was identified as Second Lieutenant Carlos Andrés Roso, commander of the Mesitas del Colegio Volunteer Firefighters, member of the specialized water rescue group.

“Yesterday, unfortunately, around 11:45 am, a situation arose with one of our search and rescue personnel, who unfortunately was dragged by the current of the river and we are currently in the process of searching for him,” Captain Álvaro Farfán, delegate of the Cundinamarca Fire Department, told Citytv.
Captain Farfán also explained the difficulties that rescuers face due to the ground conditions. He highlighted that the high flow, the presence of rocks and the difficult access to the tributary make the work dangerous and slow.
For his part, the governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, confirmed that a Unified Command Post (PMU) remains installed in the area, led by the municipal mayor and coordinated by the Ubaque Fire Department. This position articulates joint actions between Firefighters, Civil Defense, Ponalsar and the National Army to continue the search for both the minor and the missing rescuer.
