Santo Domingo.– The former president of the Republic and leader of the party Power of the People, Leonel Fernandezwarned this Thursday that the Inflation cannot continue to operate as a “hidden tax” that directly affects Dominican workers.
Through a message posted on your account X (formerly Twitter)Fernández called apply the indexation of the exempt section of the Income Tax (ISR)as established by Tax Codeto protect the real income of employees and guarantee tax justice.
“The salary should not be the loot of the treasury,” wrote the former president, who announced that he will expand his ideas in an explanatory thread on the same social network.

Loss of purchasing power
The also president of the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode) has insisted on several occasions that the sustained increase in prices has caused a significant loss of the population’s purchasing power.
Fernández has indicated that the lack of updating the exempt section of the ISR It imposes a disproportionate tax burden on employees, whose salaries are reduced by the effect of inflation.
His statement comes in the midst of the national debate on the comprehensive tax reform and the measures necessary to alleviate economic pressure on Dominican households.
