CADE Executives 2025: Alfonso López Chau presents his proposals for Peru

“We want to promote the Peru of the future with vision, leadership and inclusion,” said Alfonso López Chau. “To Peru of our young entrepreneurs. We will support the vision of a modern, entrepreneurial and committed business community that is decisively committed to high-quality education and invests in innovation, research, science and technology to compete in the new knowledge society.”

Within the framework of the 63rd edition of CADE Executives, the most important business forum in the country, Alfonso López Chau, presidential candidate for the Ahora Nación party, participated in a block dedicated to learning about the main government proposals and priorities of the presidential candidates heading into the 2026 elections. “Confiep wants to represent not only the large companies in Lima, but all those small, medium or large companies in the north, center, south or east of Peru,” he explained. “We want to have an inclusive, plural, supportive and democratic organization,” he explained. “And thus make a real and successful decentralization, promoting progress throughout the country.”

The presentation included the participation of Pablo Bustamante, Director of Lampadia, and Liliana Rojas-Suárez, Director of the Latin American Initiative and “Senior Fellow” of the Center for Global Development, who asked questions and comments aimed at delving into the candidate’s proposals and evaluating their viability in the current context of the country. This format sought to foster an open, technical and constructive dialogue, focused on the main challenges facing Peru.

During the session, López Chau presented his position on the central issues for the development of Peru: economic growth, education, health, citizen security and justice. He placed special emphasis on the need to recover the exercise of politics and public morality to restore governance and strengthen public management. “There is no way out for a country like Peru if the company, the State, academia, civil society and the leaders who defend the environment do not dialogue,” he declared.

One of the most discussed topics was economic growth. The candidate assured that he believes in a national and social market economy, as well as his interest in promoting Public Private Associations (PPP) that promote infrastructure, modernity and the use of technology. In this way, he explained, it would be possible to transform the assets of the State into sustainable development, following business ethics guidelines that allow us to regain the trust of the nation.

In addition, he addressed the major problems of the health sector, arguing his interest in developing policies that allow more equal and decentralized access to care. Regarding security and justice, López Chau emphasized the need for a complete reform in the sectors to confront illegal economies, organized crime and corruption.
