The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) dismissed the appeals filed by three people seeking the annulment of the 30-year prison sentences imposed on them for promoting sexual exploitation, among others. That decision is contained in sentence 675 written by Judge Elsa Gómez and validated by her colleagues, Carmen Marisela Castro and Maikel Moreno.
In this case, the people brought to trial and imposed the maximum sentence are Yanzhen Wu, Yu Ham Feng, of Chinese nationality, and the Venezuelan Oriana José Brito. These people recruited minors in nightclubs in Maracay (Aragua) and Valencia (Carabobo) and then took them to Beijing, China, where they entered the sex trade, according to investigations.
The Venezuelan authorities had been following up on this event until the three were captured on November 19, 2017 at the facilities of the Simón Bolívar International Airport located in Maiquetía (La Guaira), according to minutes prepared by the Bolivarian National Guard.
That day, Yanzhen and Oriana were finalizing the details of the trip to China with seven Venezuelan women, five of whom were detained at the aforementioned air terminal. When checking their respective cell phones, conversations related to the sexual business were observed.
That is why Feng, Wu and Brito were charged before Control Court 2 with Competence in Crimes of Violence against Women of the Judicial District of the then Vargas state, with the alleged commission of the crimes of human trafficking, use of adolescents to commit a crime and association to commit a crime.
Seven years after that accusation, the trial against the trio began, which began on April 10, 2024 until September 18 of that year, when they were found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison. His defenders appealed and the Court of Appeals confirmed the conviction; For this reason, they went to the TSJ where the Criminal Court made the same decision.
