The authorities specify that seven out of every ten accidents cause victims, mainly due to collisions between vehicles, which continues to be the “most dangerous” type of accident and accounts for 36% of the deaths. The report details that every accident caused by excessive speed leaves at least one victim.
The head of the National Traffic Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, Roberto Rodríguez, then highlighted that motorcycles and motorcycles are involved in 52% of accidents, which represent 32% of the deaths and 42% of the injuries.
Among the main causes of accidents in Cuba, the report points out non-compliance with traffic regulations, the poor condition of the roads and the age of the vehicle fleet, which includes numerous vehicles with between 40 and 70 years of operation.
