He President José Jerí led a ceremony delivery of weapons, vests and uniforms to the National Police of Peru (PNP), within the framework of the “counterattack” to the wave of extortion and hitmen that the country is suffering.
The president was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio; of the head of Production, César Manuel Quispe Luján, and the general commander of the PNP, Óscar Arriola Delgado, in San Isidro.
In the event, internal order control agents received 2,282 arms high-range assault, 4,000 bulletproof vests and 123,534 uniformsto “go from defensive to offensive” against crime.
“We are strengthening the operational capacity of the Police to fight organized crime throughout the country. They deserve to have the best tools to do their job,” the president emphasized.
It is worth noting that the origin of the armswhile that of the vestswhich were donated by China, and from the uniformswhich were purchased from micro and small Peruvian producers.
In total, the Government of José Jerí disbursed more than 21 million soles to deliver equipment to the National Police of Peru, and benefit 56 thousand troops throughout the country.
