The Dominican trade union centers National Confederation of Dominican Workers (CNTD), Confederation of Trade Union Unity (CNUS) and Autonomous Confederation of Classist Trade Unions (CASC) made a strong call to the deputies to proceed to approve without modifications or delays the Labor Code Bill, previously approved by the Senate.
The union movement emphasized that any alteration that affects the right to layoff would constitute an unacceptable setback and would violate the rights won by the Dominican working class.

Rafael “Pepe” Abreupresident of CNUS, warned that unemployment is a historic right that cannot be weakened under any circumstances. He emphasizes that the Chamber of Deputies must approve the project as it was approved by the Senate, without cuts or divisions, to guarantee the protection of workers.
Jacobo Ramos, deputy and president of the CNTD, maintains that the project approved by the Senate reflects the tripartite consensus between the State, employers and workers, and that it should be submitted to the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies without alterations.
