In the last weekend of the traditional youth event of the ASA (The American School of Asunción), “Las Teresas” presented in the playback contest the choreography called “Calladita you look prettier”, with a strong theme of defending human rights. and needs of women, as well as rejection of the prevailing machismo in society.
The girls were acclaimed in the sports activity and their dance reached social networks with many comments.
“I invite you to see this dance entitled ‘Calladita you look more beautiful’, a dance that breaks schemes, that transcends but above all that represents our voice and our struggle,” teacher Dani Vera wrote on Twitter, praising the work of her colleague Sil Agüero, owner and director of Evolución Academia de Danza, who was in charge of the choreography.
For his part, Agüero referred to his creation in conjunction with Deolinda Pereira, and the work of his students. “Just proud of them…my brave students,” he began.
“I knew that playing a song like that in an intercollegiate event like that was going to put the “trophy” at risk and they didn’t care, and they really taught us a lesson because at the end of the competition they celebrated their social artistic action as professionals.”
The teacher highlighted the professionalism and conviction of her students: “They left Deo, me, and everyone with their mouths open! They are the future, they are no longer afraid, and they already recognize what really matters”.
He thanked the public for the shows of support and for sharing the dance available in the YouTube platformwhich is already close to reaching 42 thousand views.
The proposal of the students took as its premise the poem ‘Somos Mujeres’, by the Spanish writer and poet Elvira Sastre Sanz and the audiovisual material implemented has the voiceover of the actress, director, producer and cultural manager, Fátima Fernández Centurión.
“Really thank you for sharing and making them feel that what they did was important… They did not win prizes, but I want to tell you that they left happy for having raised their voices.”
