Cartagena will receive its first batch of electric cars on November 11, marking the end of the use of horses in local tourism.
In the midst of the Cartagena Independence Festival, the first batch of electric cars will arrive this November 11, 24 of the 62. The hangar, the place where the vehicles will be housed, will be located in one of the areas of the Nuevo Chambacú Sports Complex.
The project, which has been in development for several months, seeks replace the use of draft animals by electric vehicles, as part of a commitment by the local administration to animal welfare and the modernization of the tourism sector.
The new vehicles were Made in Henan, Chinaand its arrival coincides with one of the most representative dates of the capital of Bolívar. The first electric cars are expected to be delivered around November 18.

A sustainable hangar
The cars will be housed in a patio-workshop of more than 2,850 square metersdesigned with the technology necessary for battery charging and aesthetic maintenance of vehicles.
The charging station will work with photovoltaic energywill have 244 solar panels and one installed power of 150 kWh, what will allow Simultaneous charging of up to 60 batteriesready for immediate exchange.

He activist and comedian Alejandro Riañowho has supported the initiative, highlighted the positive impact of the change:
“With this, Cartagena wins. This project shows that the city is transforming with purpose and respect for its traditions,” he said.
Investment and operation
The Total investment amounts to 7 billion pesos, and the authorities confirmed that The current horse-coach drivers will be in charge of operating the new electric carsguaranteeing the employment continuity of those who have historically worked in this tourist activity.
