Leaders of the teaching sector join in working together with Abel Martínez

Hundreds of leaders expressed their support for the presidential aspirations from Abel Martinez facing the popular consultations that the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) next October 16.

The attendees are PLD teacher leaders who for weeks worked on the formation of support teams in each municipality and municipal district throughout the country, strengthening the political structure of Abel Martínez’s presidential project.

Addressing those present, Professor Eduardo Hidalgo, deputy, member of the Central Committee of the PLD and president of the Association of Teachers (ADP) expressed that the teaching profession is placed “in the front row because we reiterate that the shortest way to return is Abel , a man who carries teaching in his blood; he is one of us and embraces the desires that our sector has”.

“Abel is a man of his word and has shown that he keeps what he promises. So we are not going to stop working until we reach the first goal on October 16, when without a doubt, Abel will become the PLD candidate and then continue working to bring him back to the National Palace in 2024,” Hidalgo said.

During the massive activity, presidential candidate Abel Martínez said that the PLD governments made significant gains in the entire education sector, highlighting the construction of classrooms and schools, as well as the implementation of school breakfast, extended shifts and childcare. , “but also worked for the dignity of the teaching sector. Let us remember that in 2004 the regular base salary of a teacher did not reach three thousand pesos per shift; in 2016 it reached 18 thousand pesos and in 2020 the salary averaged above 59 thousand pesos.

“I feel enormously grateful for the immense privilege of having the massive and forceful support of a sector of which I feel part from my origins as the son of two consecrated teachers, for which the teaching profession is in me. You can be sure that from the presidency, we will work very hard to dignify everything related to the teaching sector. I embrace all your struggles, we will make them come true and we will overcome them; you count on me”, assured Abel Martínez

On his side, Julio César Bogue, member of the Central Committee and vice president of Coopnama representing the southern region, assured that “in this room we have presented candidates to preside over the ADP and we have won; we have presented presidential candidates and we have made them candidates; we have presented candidates and we have made them presidents and today is no exception; you can be sure that this army of men and women will bring you victory”.

Meanwhile, Julio Canelo, a member of the Central Committee of the PLD, municipal president of Cambita San Cristóbal and general secretary of the ADP, assured that the teaching sector guarantees Abel Martínez more than 150 thousand votes in the internal consultations.

During the meeting in which hundreds of teachers were following up from the outskirts of the La Mancha room of the Hotel Lina, which was packed to the max, Genesis Santos, member of the PLD Central Committee, member of the National Executive Committee of the sectional ADP also spoke. Los Alcarrizos, a member of the Credit Committee of Coopnama, who spoke on behalf of women, while professor Claribel Rodríguez, from the North region, spoke on behalf of youth.

Abel Martínez was accompanied by a broad representation of the PLD, including members of the Political Committee, Central Committee, deputies, mayors, municipal presidents and provincial presidents, among others.
