São Paulo drew 2-2 with Flamengo, on Wednesday night (5) at Vila Belmiro, in Santos, in a match valid for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship. With this result, Rubro-Negro da Gávea lost the opportunity to take the lead in the competition.

Flamengo remains in second place, now with 65 points, the same score as leader Palmeiras, who face Santos next Thursday (6). São Paulo is in 8th place with 45 points.
With the ball rolling, São Paulo opened the scoring just 2 minutes into the first half. Flamengo’s defense got tangled up and the ball fell to Luciano, who didn’t forgive it. But Rubro-Negro didn’t take long to equalize, in the 7th minute with Arrascaeta on a penalty kick.
In the final stage, Flamengo took the lead, thanks to a goal from Samuel Lino in the 18th minute. However, Ferreirinha secured the final equalizer in the 34th minute.
Friendship Classic
Two other teams from Rio took action for the Brazilian Championship this Wednesday. Playing at the Nilton Santos stadium, Botafogo was superior and defeated Vasco 3-0. Thanks to this home triumph, the team led by coach Davide Ancelotti reached 51 points, in 6th place. Fernando Diniz’s Cruzmaltino remains with 42 points, in 9th place.

The victory for General Severiano’s team was built with goals from full-back Alex Telles, in the 44th minute of the first half, from striker Artur, in the 26th minute of the final half in a quick counterattack, and from defender David Ricardo, five minutes later.

Cruzeiro also won, and gained strength in the fight for the competition title. Even playing in Porto Alegre, Raposa beat Grêmio by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the match came after 42 minutes of the first half, when defender Fabrício Bruno took advantage of a ball raised in the area from a rehearsed corner kick to score with a header.

The three points gained away from home took Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim’s team to 63 points, in 3rd place. The Porto Alegre team continues with 39 points, in 13th place.
