In the context of the extraordinary plenary session of the V Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv) and the IV Youth Congress of the Psuv (Jpsuv), held this Tuesday in Caracas, the delegates authorized the president of the party, Nicolás Maduro, to make decisions on the transformation of the internal structures of the organization.
The announcement was published this Wednesday by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez and leader of the Psuv through his official Telegram account.
Consolidation of new methods of popular government
In the message, Rodríguez shared the official statement of the congressmen, who stated:
“Together we will advance in the process of consolidating the new methods of popular government and in the transition of the Bolivarian Revolution. United we will win!”
Congress as a space for political reconfiguration
The V Congress of the Psuv and the IV of the Jpsuv have been convened to review structures, renew leadership and define new lines of action in defense of sovereignty. The day included the participation of national leaders, territorial delegates and youth spokespersons, who agreed on the need to adapt the party to current challenges.
The extraordinary plenary session is part of a series of meetings that seek to consolidate the popular government model, strengthen the link with the bases and project the Bolivarian Revolution towards a new stage of political transition.
They approve tasks to strengthen the nation’s defense
It should be noted that the red awning unanimously approved, the proposals led by President Nicolás Maduro to unite in defense of the homeland in the face of the threat from the US government.
The general secretary of the Psuv, Diosdado Cabello, was in charge of making each of the points known, where the strengthening of Popular Power stands out; guarantee new methods of government and direct execution; new organizational structures; organize and promote the transition from the unarmed to the armed struggle; the international communication struggle; authorize President Nicolás Maduro to make the decisions he considers for the defense of the homeland.
“Yesterday we were meeting in the states, at the end of the evening President Nicolás Maduro came and gave us guidelines and directives and asked us to bring to this plenary session (…) to submit for consideration on the occasion of the constant threats, provocations and the siege that North American imperialism has carried out,” Cabello said.
The extraordinary plenary session took place in a context of strategic reorganization, with the aim of strengthening political action in the face of the international siege led by the government of Donald Trump, which has intensified diplomatic, economic and military pressures against Venezuela.
