  • They say the re-election of the mayor of Lawrence is a step forward that reaffirms the power of the Dominican in this city.

MIRABAL SISTERS.- Various personalities from political, business and social activists expressed their joy and congratulated the Dominican Brian DePeña for his victory this Tuesday for the re-election of the mayor of Lawrence.

Among the personalities who expressed their congratulations to the prominent businessman DePeña, are the representative of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) Félix Hiciano who since last week posted messages in his different states on his social networks alluding to the importance of Brian retaining power in Lawrence, as well as the governor of this district Lissette Nicasio who in a telephone call to this editor stated that the triumph of the Dominican native of the city of Miches, in the Eastern region of country, means a lot to those who, like him, seek to bring developments to the communities where they reside.

Likewise, the mayor of Salcedo, Juan Ramón Hernández, said that the country should be celebrating this triumph, which is above all, as he said, the recognition of a man who since he arrived in this city has done nothing but work constantly for the strengthening of the Hispanic community, especially the Dominican one.

Others who referred to the issue were the General Manager of the La Unión Cooperative, and the president of CoopSanrafael, Messrs. José Aníbal García and Yudelka Jiménez, who stated that the Dominican community in Lawrence should feel proud to have a compatriot in the important position of mayor, but above all for having achieved re-election against the Puerto Rican Manuel González (Many).

In those same terms, the president of the Citizen Advance Party, Julio Infante, stated that Dominicans have shown strength and unity around Brian, while the social activist and political and business strategist Emmanuel Imbert, wrote through his social networks, that “Today, the Dominican Brian DePeña has made history again, by winning re-election in the mayor of Lawrence, as a son of this country, I join the number of people who tonight have expressed their rejoicing at such an important victory, which means a lot for the continuation of the development of our Dominican and Hispanic community in Lawrence,” said the cultural and social worker, who is also a cultural and social worker.

Of a general total of 11,000 computed votes distributed in 6 Electoral Districts, Manny González, a native of Puerto Rico, obtained 45.19%, while the Dominican Brian DePeña obtained 54.30%.
