A ceremony was held in Bucaramanga.
The National Police of Colombia commemorates 134 years of historyand due to this important date, different tribute ceremonies are held throughout Colombian territory, and in Santander did not let this special date be overlooked.
On November 5, 1891, through Decree 1000 issued by the then president Carlos Holguín Mallarino, the National Police of Colombia as a civil institution dedicated to guaranteeing coexistence and citizen security throughout the national territory.
For a total of For 134 years, this institution has stood firm, with thousands of soldiers who have given their lives and its best years to guarantee the security and tranquility of all the Colombian people.

Ceremony in Bucaramanga
The Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia, located in the center of Bucaramanga was chosen to hold the celebration ceremony for the 134 years of history of the National Police in Santander territory.
The commander of the Police in Santander, Néstor Rodrigo Arévalo Montenegro, the commander of the Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga, participated in the ceremony. William Quintero Salazar, the Secretary of the Interior of Santander, Óscar Eduardo Hernández Durán, the Secretary of the Interior of Bucaramanga, Reynaldo Rojas Suárez, the director of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area, John Manuel Delgado Nivia, the mayor (designated) of Girón, Fredy Cáceres Arismendy, and the Secretary of the Interior of Floridablanca, Andrés Norberto Ardila Pérez.
“Together with the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police we participated in a Eucharist, raising our prayers for all the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the service, protection and security of Colombians. “We continue to strengthen our mission with honor, discipline and love for the country,” indicated the Santander Police Department through social networks.

“I have been serving the country for 32 years, serving the institutionfalling more in love every day with this sacred institution, which has given so much to me and my family, that has allowed me to improve myself and raise my children. So today we reaffirm our commitment to continue working hard for the safety of all the inhabitants of the metropolitan area,” said the commander of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police, William Quintero Salazar.
For his part, the commander of the Santander Police Department, Néstor Rodrigo Arévalo Montenegro, in conversation with Alerta Bucaramanga, said the following: “Now 29 years in the institution, with the daily commitment to work for the safety of the people of Santander, of those 78 municipalities that the Santander Police Department is responsible for, with the 2,420 uniformed officers who are part of this police unit, who get up every day with the sole purpose of serving, help and guarantee coexistence and citizen security.”
