He also highlighted the importance of presenting and analyzing successful policies that can be replicated in other nations.
For his part, the General Director of Budget, José Rijo Presbot, emphasized the government’s commitment to planning more strategic, sustainable and transparent budgets, which optimize the quality of spending, guarantee fiscal sustainability and strengthen confidence in public finances.
He also pointed out that the Government continues a process of modernization and institutional strengthening to face geopolitical tensions and economic challenges at a global level.
This year’s seminar is held under the motto “International geopolitics and taxation in times of global transformation.”
Addressing common problems
José Luis Araya, president of the Board of Directors of the International Public Budget Association (ASIP), stated that the fiscal policy of each country constitutes a fundamental axis to “buffer” social problems. He stressed that the seminar will seek to offer answers to some of the difficulties posed by the current situation.

The seminar, which takes place in the Dominican Republic and will last until Thursday, November 6, is organized by the General Directorate of Budget in conjunction with the ASIP, whose objective is to strengthen budget design and financial management at the national, provincial and municipal levels in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
