During the early hours of last Monday, unknown individuals detonated an explosive device in the home of the provincial mayor of Huarmey (Áncash), Cavino Cautivo Grasa. In addition, they left an extortion letter accompanied by a bullet in the front of the building.
The detonation, which occurred near Antonio Raimondi Park, caused damage to the floor and façade of the house. Captivo Grasa announced that he will request guarantees after the attack.
“I am going to ask for guarantees tomorrow and the complaint has to continue. I’m going to see what I can do with the Dirincri, who is going to come later and testify so that the person can be captured. [que hizo esto]. I cannot continue being threatened and intimidated, one by video and the other by dynamite”, he declared to RPP.
In the letter, the criminals demand that the mayor of Huarmey pay 200 thousand soles and carry out a work. In addition, they threaten to continue spreading videos in which he is seen counting bills, if he does not agree to their demands.
“It comes to you to give us a solution. We are going to continue releasing more of your videos. You know, either pay the 200 thousand or solve it with that work. To the [próxima] We put a bigger dynamite in your house so that it flies to your car and maybe any day we leave a dead person and we are not going to stop until you line up. You know, so solve” is displayed in the message.

In relation to the videos mentioned in the letter, Cautivo Grasa stated that the money that appears to be counted was withdrawn by his secretary or by personnel from the institutional image area, with the purpose of financing municipal activities using their own resources.
Likewise, the mayor maintained that the person responsible for the attack would be the same person who is spreading the aforementioned videos among Huarmey journalists with the purpose of extorting him.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Area (Areincri) of Huarmey are already carrying out the corresponding procedures with the aim of identifying and locating those responsible for the attack.
