Survey: Two out of three Latinos disapprove of Trump's management and fear immigration raids

Almost two out of every three Latino voters in the US, 64%, disapprove of President Donald Trump’s management, according to a survey published this Monday by the UnidosUS association.

The study also reflects a widespread fear among this community: 41% fear being arrested by immigration authoritieseven having citizenship or legal status.

The survey, titled “Bipartisan Poll of Hispanic Voters: The Road to 2026,” shows that, despite the disapproval, only 13% of Latinos who voted for Trump would not do so again, while 9% declared themselves undecided.

Among the main concerns of Hispanic voters are the cost of living and inflation (53%), followed by employment and the economy (36%), housing (32%), public health (30%) and immigration (20%).

Almost four out of ten stated that their economic situation is “worse” than a year agosaid an agency office EFE.

Economic and political mistrust

Half of those surveyed, 50%, believe that Trump’s economic policies will worsen their situation, while 65% believe the president and Republicans are not doing enough to improve the economy.

The study, conducted between October 8 and 22, was released a month after the partial shutdown of the federal government, which began on October 1, due to disagreement between Republicans and Democrats over the inclusion of health subsidies in the budget.

61% of respondents blamed Republicans for the shutdown, compared to 22% who blamed Democrats.

Looking ahead to the 2026 midterm elections, 52% said they would support a Democratic candidate and 28% a Republican.

According to the Pew Research Center48% of Latino voters supported Trump in the 2024 presidential election, compared to 51% who supported Democrat Kamala Harris.

Fear of raids and loss of rights

The survey also shows growing concern about immigration policies.

33% reported that Employers have lost workers for fear of immigration arrests and 29% stated that children have stopped attending classes due to their parents’ fear of being arrested.

More than seven in ten Latinos (72%) oppose a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) use appearance, language or workplace as justification for detaining a person.

Besides, 59% believe that civil liberties and rights are now less secureand almost half (49%) fear being a victim of political violence or that someone close to them will be.

California, focus of concern

In California, the state with the largest Latino population, 50% of respondents expressed fear of political violence and 60% said they felt less safe about their freedoms.

74% opposed ICE arrests based on appearance and language, while 32% cited worker losses for fear of raids and 30% reported school absences for the same reason.

82% of Californian Latinos expressed their “deep concern” about what they perceive as a weakened Congress in the face of Trump’s executive power.

The survey, conducted by the BSP Research firm, consulted 3,000 Latinos through calls, messages and digital panels, with a margin of error of 1.8%, it concluded EFE.
