A lawyer and worker Congress sentenced for corruption appeared near the president José Jerí in images of official activities.
This is Gina Gálvez, who currently works as an advisor to the Congressional Decentralization Commission. Panorama revealed that the official has positioned herself in the closest circle of the head of state. In addition, he has an effective prison sentence of 4 years, for the crime of incompatible negotiation or improper use of the position. Given this, she was also disqualified and fined S/ 20,970. It should be noted that he has appealed the court ruling.
The court determined that the parliamentary worker took an improper and direct interest in 2020 for the benefit of third parties, when she was working as manager of the Ancash Regional Government during the administration of Juan Carlos Morillo, affiliated with Somos Perú. In that sense, she was found guilty of hiring her own people without processes or competitions.
Despite the judicial process, Gálvez was hired in Congress for the second time in August, after the conviction was issued against her in the first instance.
The Sunday newspaper indicated that the official would be part of the president’s closest circle. In official activities she is seen close to the head of state. In that sense, Gálvez would be a kind of protocol chief, given that she has been seen with papers and a pen, giving instructions to Jerí.
Government Palace confirmed that the convicted woman was invited by the president himself to some activities. However, he indicated that this does not mean that there is an employment relationship with the Executive. In addition, he points out that he has a “personal friendship” with Jerí and a “bond of brotherhood.”
Panorama revealed that Gálvez has visited the Government Palace on several occasions, one of these visits lasted 11 hours.
The official and the president worked together in the Ancash Regional Government in 2020, during the administration of the convicted former governor Morillo.
