A family from Gutiérrez, in Cundinamarca, lives hours of deep concern after the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl who was swept away by the current of the Blanco River on Monday, November 3. According to known information, the minor was playing with another girl when a sudden surge surprised both of them.
According to the governor of the department, Jorge Rey, one of the girls managed to be rescued quickly thanks to the reaction of several people who were at the scene. However, the other minor was carried away by the strong current and has remained missing since then.
Since that moment, relief agencies, neighbors and local authorities activated a search operation that continues uninterruptedly. Teams with drones, light boats, lighting systems and specialized personnel travel the riverbed.
Emergency groups have reinforced security protocols due to the force of the flow. Control points were also installed along the Blanco River to monitor any variations that may affect the search efforts.
«I thank the relief agencies and local communities for not stopping their efforts. “We remain attentive and provide all the necessary support in this difficult situation,” said Governor Rey.

The departmental leader explained in an interview with Caracol Radio that the operation faces especially complicated conditions because the area where the search is concentrated is a narrow and rugged terrain, located in the middle of a canyon, which limits the mobility of personnel.
Despite the difficulties, the authorities remain hopeful of finding the minor and ask the community to remain alert for any signs.
