Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewerage Company (EAAB).
The Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewerage Company (EAAB) explained the causes of the yellowish color registered in the water in some sectors of the capital during the last few days.
According to the entity, the situation arose as a consequence of the optimization works in the Francisco Wiesner Treatment Plant, which made it necessary to adjust the operation of the supply system to maintain the supply of drinking water throughout the city.
During the execution of the works, the company increased the flow coming from the Tibitoc Plant, which generated changes in the flow speed within the distribution networks.
This phenomenon caused the release of mineral sediments accumulated in the pipes, causing a temporary coloration of the water, reported mainly by users in northern and western locations, including Usaquén, Suba, Engativá and Fontibónas well as in surrounding municipalities that are also supplied by the system.
The EAAB assured that the water remains completely drinkable and that its quality has not been affected, since it complies with national and international standards for human consumption.
Likewise, he indicated that the works have already been completed and that the distribution system is in the process of stabilization, so the color of the water will return to normal in the next few hours.
